These colourful, educational posters can be used in conjunction with Ralph Pirozzo’s book The Thinking School (HB7658). The TREC poster is particularly useful to scaffold students into doing mathematics. This tool ensures that students know what they need to do by encouraging them to go through a four-stage approach. One of the critical stages is for the students to fully understand the problem that they have to solve. Thus, TREC encourages the students to read the question carefully. If they still don’t understand it, they read it again and discuss it with their group. Finally, they may ask their teacher for assistance.
